This guide explains how to update the CL-12 hardware to prevent unwanted firmware update prompts from appearing on the 6-Series. You’ll find the required components, tools, and step-by-step instructions below. This update applies to all CL-12 linear fader controllers.
What is Required
Parts required:
- x1 Resistor, 10k Ohm, 0402 (Part Number 3668)
- Jumper wire (30 AWC recommended)
Tools needed:
- Phillips #1 Screwdriver
- 12 MM Hex Nut Driver
- 1/6″ Hex Key (Alaia panels only)
- Solder Iron

Update Instructions
Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the 18 screws that secure the two side panels to the chassis. Figure 1 shows the location of the screws for one (right) side panel.
NOTE: A 1/16” Hex key is needed if removing Alaia side panels
Using a 12 MM Hex nut driver, remove the nut from the 6-Series headphone jack. See Figure 2 for the location of the jack.
Remove 5 screws on the back panel using a Phillips #1 screwdriver. The screws are circled in Figure 2.
Remove 5 screws on the bottom panel using a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Refer to Figure 3 for the location of the screws.
Carefully remove the bottom panel and locate the UART interface IC. The IC is circled in Figure 4.
Solder a jumper wire and 10k pulldown resistor (P/N 3668) in series between pin 17 of the UART interface IC (U1) and the pads of U46 (pin 4), as shown in figure 5.
Review solder and clean any excess flux.
Reassemble CL-12.
