Setup
To set up the P1-M for use with the 8-Series, it is necessary to map the iMAP “Sound Devices” profile to one of the 3 available DAW buttons on the P1-M. To do this, use Icon’s iMAP software for PC or Mac.
- If not already installed, navigate to the P1-M page of Icon’s website. At the bottom of the page under Downloads, select and install the appropriate version of iMAP for your computer. Once installed, do not launch the program.
- Connect the P1-M to the computer using a USB-C connection from the back of the controller.
- Power up the P1-M.
- Launch the iMAP application on the computer. Make sure P1-M is selected as the controller for the dropdown in the top-right of the screen.
- Right click anywhere in the black region on the left and select ‘Reset to Factory Default’.
-
Select “Sound Devices” from the DAW dropdown box on the right of the screen then select the BUTTON FUNCTIONS tab.
The touch display layout of the P1-M can be customized. For convenience, Sound Devices has created a custom preset iMAP configuration and an 8-Series controller mapping file that together map commonly used functions to this touch display.
To load the matching 8-Series controller mapping file into your 8-Series:
- Download the P1-M Controller Mapping File.
- Load the file into the MIDI_MAPPING folder located on the root of your 8-Series drive.
Note: In 8-Series firmware v10.11 and earlier, the MIDI_MAPPING folder may not exist. In this case, go to 8-Series Controllers > Mapping and select Learn to learn any P1-M button – this will automatically create the MIDI_MAPPING folder on your 8-Series drive. You can then delete the learned button from the Mapping list. - From the 8-Series Menu, select Controllers > Mapping and then toggle the switch for ‘Load’ at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the P1-M Controller Mapping File and press the Headphone Encoder to select.
Note: The first time you use the P1-M with 8-Series, hold down the Solo button on Channel 1 while powering the controller on. You will need to repeat this process if the P1-M is reset to defaults.
Troubleshooting
